Lots of sun since we last wrote and the snow is holding up well.
We’ve skied over to Italy (La Thuile) with guests and friends quite often this month… Slopes have been quiet and snow good as its dumped right on the border between Italy and France.
The weeks are flying by and here in Les Arcs we have had a special visit from the Queen, click here for video evidence. We’ve had another bit of snow and the pistes are keeping well. Resorts have been making snow overnight and are doing well in ensuring conditions are good. Last week was half term and very busy, this week seems less busy and less queues, thankfully. Some of our guests have planned a helicopter ride for tomorrow for their children.They are all excited and the kids have no idea. Our 2 girls have finished school for 2 weeks also. Anneha is skiing to Italy today with Jonny and Fi is going to snow shoe. We are heading our for dinner tonight at our local restaurant where they cook meat on the fire. They also have a really nice Wine Bar so looking forward to that. Still got lots of availability. We are thinking that we will get good late snow smacking conditions great for a late ski in April.
Snow has been slow for the last month, however all our guests have skied every day and we have advised on where to ski for the best snow and conditions.
All Resorts are open, although Villaroger, Les Arcs was late opening.
We had our first day skiing in Val D’isere, Espace Killy last week and conditions were great.
Everyone is saying it’s the best start for Val D’isere in 20 years, we must admit the pistes and coverage were really good as was the weather, bluebird all day……..
We’ve had snow here in Villaroger, Les Arcs , infact right down to the Valley bottom in Bourg Saint Maurice. We now have a winter wonderland and it looks beautiful ….
Well the snow has started here in Les Arcs, Paradiski and we have woken up to a dusting of snow in Villaroger. It started earlier in Val d’Isere and we can see Sainte Foy from the chalet and its got a layer of snow too…..
It’s half term week in Les Arcs this week and we have headed back to the UK to see family and friends before the Season starts…
We have turned ‘Autumnal’ here in Villaroger and the Valley is changing colour. The leaves are beginning to fall and mushrooms are popping up all over the place.
The sun is still out though and as yet we have not lit the fire so still quite mild….
We have had an amazing Summer, its just gone far too quick…. Tour du France was exciting , we watched it in Albertville and Jonny and Anneha made it up Mount Ventoux… what an achievement!!! Well done to Froomey!!! My sister and her 2 children visited last week and we packed so much in. We headed to #Tignes and went up the free lifts and the kids did the airbag, hamster balls on the water and kayaking. We also had a day in Italy and Pizza for lunch at our favourite restaurant Maison Laurent. The kids loved the chocolate pizza as always. We visited Annecy too for the day and went up the Col du Forclaz to take in the amazing view of the whole lake, it really is stunning. We got our pizza oven up and running one night as the weather has been great… Love doing it as everyone helps and makes their own dinner!!! We are testing out new recipes for the chalet next season and Fifi is testing some desserts. Bookings are coming in and we are hoping we will see you all again Next Season. Les Arcs opens on the 10th Dec this year for the Film Festival, Val D’Isere and Tignes will be open from the beginning of Dc with almost guaranteed skiing due to the Grande Motte Glacier. Les Arcs is open and the lifts are running. Great for walkers and Mountain bikers , no uphill. We cycled from the chalet, down to Bourg Saint Maurice, up the funichular and then up the lifts to Les Arcs 2000. From there we cycled all the way back to the Chalet door…amazing. The tracks through the forest are the best. We have all been out on the road bikes… Col de Petit St Bernard, past la Rosiere one of our favorites. The outdoor pool in Bourg Saint Maurice is open too as well as the pool is Arc 1600 and Les Arcs 1800. Great to walk from the top of the Cachette and head down to the outdoor pool on the slopes or the one in 1800. The girls have also done the high rope adventure at the bottom of our road a couple of times. They have changed a few of the sections to make it even more challanging and its in such a beautiful setting here in Villaroger, shady when hot too. Jonny and Anneha are planning on riding Mont Ventoux when the tour passes through. Its a real beast of a climb and can often be windy at the top so hopefully they will get good weather. We are gearing up for our holidays too, we have a wedding to go to so very excited about that The girls and i have been shopping for dresses and we cannot wait to see the Bride and Groom. Don’t forget too that all the lifts in Val D’Isere and Tignes are free this Summer which is a bonus to all you Mountain bikers, as well as families heading high to get the views and do some walking.
