6th April 2010

More snow over the last couple of days , great when we have 2 days off. Jonny and I went out together last Friday and skied the Powder in Ste Foy. Click here to see the conditions, one of the best powder days of the season. Blue skies and sun so far this week, and with The Weetmans, The Masons and Nat and Del in the chalet we are having some great days out. Today we went to Italy for Pizza!!!!

1st April 2010

April 1st and its another powder day. We’ve had snow for the last couple of days and the village is again all white.  We skied Ste Foy today , Villaroger yesterday. Although visibilty today was not brilliant we skied in the trees and had some fabulous POWDER, one of the best days of the season. The Stratton family have been with us and despite there not been too much sunshine have had good snow. Great to see you all again. Looking forward to seeing The Weetamns, the masons and Nathan and Delphine this weekend. all returning guests. Tomorrow is due to be bluebird with more snow over the weekend. Once again the Tarentaise Valley lives up to its reputation of being good for late snow. Here are a couple of pics from today!

30th March 2010

We have had fresh snow this week and its set us up again for the end of the season. Everything looks clean and white again and we are still able to ski down right to the bottom in Villaroger. Conditions are once again great and the pistes well covered. We have had some good days out with the guests. Jonny enjoyed doing a bit of skinning on the pistes with Andy and Gwen who kindly gave them their knowledge for his next project, Mountain Leader Course  in May. Andy was already a ML and Gwen taking her exam in the next few weeks. Italy has remained quiet on the pistes all season. Not sure why but its been nice to have the runs to ourselves. The new Arpette lift in Arc 1600/1800 has been a favourite of ours this season to access Arc 2000. Its really quick and the run down to it is always in good condition. My mum and Aunty and Uncle came out last week. My Aunty had her first ski at 69 and managed to do some turns and stop. We visited the ice caves as well in Arc 2000. We had a wet day in Annecy but the sun came out for the last 2 hrs meaning they could see the lake in its full glourious blue. Anneha had to have a pot on her ankle as she pulled the cartilage in her ankle. Shes not being able to ski for 4 weeks. Today she has been to hospital again and now has a pot on her wrist as she has broken a bone in it. Not skiing I must add but playing and slipped on the ice. This has meant she has missed some races with club. Fi has been racing though and here is a link to her first Grand Prix in Villaroger click here. Another few weeks left for us but we are already thinking about the Summer and bookings for the chalet are coming in so please get in touch if you want to come out and stay. Here are a few pics from the last few weeks.     A friend of ours  Lawrence Clayton took this fabulous picture of Villaroger by night, it looks stunning!!

28th Feb 2010

We have had a  busy few weeks since I last wrote with mixed weather. Blue skies and sun, total whiteouts , then fresh snow, so a real mixed bag.  One visit to Italy proved too windy( the wind does blow in La Rosiere quite often). It was so bad we had to turn back with the girls. We were poling downhill!!! The Air Bag in Les Arcs and Ste Foy has proved popular, with Harry Little nearly knocking himself out on the first attempt. The photo below is of him in action. Half Term was busier on the slopes but not too bad. Clive and Joel, Mike and Alex managed to ski 7 different resorts within the week proving there is so much choice when you stay here with us. La Plagne was a great day out, we can get to the Vanoise within an hour of reaching the bottom lift at Villaroger. Sally and Peter and the Cononley Couples have just left from their annual long weekend. Congratulations again to Michelle for becoming a QC, she heard she had been succcessful during her stay at the chalet. Champagne was definitely flowing that night. Here are a few pics taken during the last 3 weeks.     Yesterday was a powder day , so we skied Villaroger. Click here to see some footage.

10th Feb 2010

We have had fresh snow again today and so skied with guests (The Lowther Family) at Ste Foy. Conditions are superb and at only 12.50 Euros for the day, proved a fabulous value day out!!! Have a look at the following link of Anneha and the guests on the new BIG AIR BAG at Ste Foy. To have a look at the condtions today also click here.

25th Jan 2010

Conditions Fabulous, and have been for  a while now. Having had lots of snow over New Year the sun came out early January and we have had a mixture of Blue Bird days (sun and blue skies) and then powder days after fresh snow. Perfect!!!! Unfortunately I took a tumble 2 weeks ago and fractured my shoulder blade. Having not skied for 2 weeks i finally did yesterday and although feeling sore today it was good to be back out. I’m having intensive physio to improve it, but it may take time. I can ski but only with 1 pole, very funny. We have had some new visitors to the chalet. The Wylie Family came last week and their 2 girls Anna and Tess got along great with our 2 girls. Tess was only 4 years old, but what a little skier. She would ski all day, without moaning and made it over to Italy too. What a little star!!! Anna was a great skier too and loved it when Anneha took her through the trees and over little jumps. The Trench Family have been here this week and Marcus has kept us all entertained. Mutsig certainly made a mark on them , and their car !!!!!! Ive enclosed a clip of video taken early January of a trip to Italy as the views with the cloud in the Valley on the way back were spectacular!!!! Click here to view.

Motorcycling the French Alps

The Chalet is a perfect base to explore possibly some of the best riding in the World. Just the sheer splendour and magnitude of the mountains along with stunning views and scenery offers you something totally different to the UK. Due to our central position in Paradiski, days out are endless, returning to the Chalet on an evening. You can ride around Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain at 4800m. It’s always snow covered, as the name suggests. You can ride over the highest paved mountain pass in the Alps – the Col de L’Iseran just above the ski resort of Val D’Isere. This climbs to 2770 metres above sea level. You can ride over the Col de Petit St Bernard into Italy and have pizza for lunch. There are many other Cols nearby too. Photo opportunites are endless !! You’re riding at altitudes of about 6 times higher than anything in the UK. The roads twist and turn for mile after mile after mile. The road surfaces are mostly good with excellent grip; there are no traffic jams or speed traps; you’re surrounded by snow capped peaks and tumbling glaciers; and for most of the time the sun shines brightly as well. After a great day’s riding head back to the chalet for a welcome beer in the hottub, BBQ on the terrace  and a nice comfy bed !!!  All roads are tarmaced, no gravel in sight, and the parking is flat, offroad, and secure! The Chalet sleeps up to 10 people from as little as £750 for the week Self Catered !

12th Jan 2010

We have had lots of snow over the last couple of weeks, meaning conditions have been fab with lots of powder. We have skied Les Arcs and Ste Foy and all the guests have had skiing that only comes once a blue moon. As its been cold the snow has been very light , which makes amazing conditions. The last few days have been sunshine and blue skies. We had a trip to Italy and the views were breathtaking with the cloud hanging in the Valley bottom. When we left Le Loissel that morning it was zero visibility but as we climed to above 1600m we popped out of the cloud to sunshine and blue skies, unbelievable!!! The ski was great all the way down and we stopped off at our favourite coffee stop (or bombadino stop I should say) followed by pizza for lunch.  Our New Year guests were the first of the year to brave the Basin, not only once but a couple of times during the week. Staggy is still coming down to the house and we get a glimpse of him most days. Both girls are skiing with Club now, and love their new outfiits which Father Christmas brought. Fi has got new skis too and although quite a bit longer than her old ones, is handling them well. Congratulations again to Vicky and Rob who got engaged on the slopes at NY. Champagne certainly flowed that night. Here is a video taken NY week in Villaroger, click here to see it! Here are a few pics from the last couple of weeks.
